Dr. Tim
Few people have the “aha” or “lightbulb” moment in life, and I’ve been very lucky to experience it.After graduating from Queen’s University with an honours degree in Life Sciences in hand, and 50 extra pounds in the belly, I thought I was destined for a career in medicine, albeit not completely sure in what capacity. I took a job with a pharmaceutical company and became quickly jaded with their “sell more, people are sick” mentality. Following my time with pharmaceuticals and a lengthy and varied career in the boating industry, some soul-searching led me back into healthcare and to ultimately discover naturopathic medicine.
After 4 years studying at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM), I graduated with the honour of representing my class as valedictorian. I am licensed to work in Ontario and have a family practice in Waterdown.
I have written a naturopathic textbook with 3 remarkable colleagues, and continue to work at CCNM as an instructor and teaching assistant. I still find myself at a healthy weight living a healthy life with a loving family, and loving a career where I can combine my passions for helping others, educating them in health, and constantly being challenged by finding new ways to help you, naturally.

Naturopathic Medicine
Through an extensive patient history and intake, and various diagnostic techniques including physical examinations and lab work, a Naturopathic Doctor will look at you holistically and devise an individualized treatment plan with the intention of curing, not just treating symptoms.
Some of the benefits of seeing a Naturopathic Doctor include; longer visit times allowing the understanding of you as a whole, your treatments will be natural and non-invasive and may be more effective than conventional treatment, and can complement any treatment you may already be going through for increased efficacy.
Frequently Asked Questions
Most third party insurance companies offer benefits that cover naturopathic medicine. Most plans cover $500 worth of services whereas others provide anywhere from $300 to $1000.
At this time, naturopathic medicine is not covered by OHIP. That’s why I offer affordable care so that everyone can get the best healthcare without worrying about the cost.
Becoming an ND requires an undergraduate degree and specific prerequisite courses before attending an accredited college of naturopathic medicine for 4 years. Before practicing, an ND must pass 2 board examinations and a provincial or state licensing examination.
The two terms are often used interchangeably, however a naturopathic doctor is a licensed medical professional that must answer to a regulatory board.
Naturopathic Physicians Oath
I dedicate myself to the service of humanity as a practitioner of the art and science of Naturopathic medicine.
I will honour my teachers and all who have preserved and developed this knowledge and dedicate myself to supporting the growth and evolution of Naturopathic medicine. I will endeavour to continually improve my abilities as a healer through study, reflection, and genuine concern for humanity. I will impart knowledge of the advanced healing arts to dedicated colleagues and students.
Through precept, lecture, and example, I will assist and encourage others to strengthen their health, reduce risks for disease, and preserve the health of our planet for ourselves, our families, and future generations.
According to my best ability and judgment, I will use methods of treatment which follow the principles of Naturopathic medicine:
- First of all, to do no harm.
- To act in cooperation with the Healing Power of Nature.
- To address the fundamental causes of disease.
- To heal the whole person through individualized treatment. To teach the principles of healthy living and preventive medicine.
With my whole heart, before this gathering of witnesses, as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, I pledge to remain true to this oath.
Training and Regulation of a Naturopathic Doctor
Naturopaths are currently provincially regulated by the Board of Directors Drugless Therapy Naturopathy (BDDT-N) under the Drugless Practitioners Act. The profession is undergoing an extensive process to be included under the Regulated Health Practitioners Act with all other medical professionals and will then be governed by the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.
